CAFÉ+ Roadmaps: step by step to a Skills Café

Three roadmaps — for facilitators, Peer Ambassadors and adult learners — bring together the CAFÉ+ tools, training and activities for each group, and show the way from a first visit to recognised learning and a next step.

The three roadmaps

One roadmap for each group

Each roadmap shows where to start, which CAFÉ+ tools to use at each stage, and how learning connects to recognition and a next step into training or work.

Facilitators
Roadmap 1

Facilitators: running a Skills Café

For Language Café hosts, community educators and volunteers who want to turn conversation into recognised learning.

  • The ten CF10 future skills and how they link to EU frameworks
  • Running CLIL activities from the Skills Café Toolkit
  • Facilitating with the Reciprocal Maieutic Approach
  • Care-friendly sessions: childcare, short sessions, online activities and evening times
  • Supporting portfolios and next steps into training, services and work
Peer Ambassadors
Roadmap 2

Peer Ambassadors: bringing others along

For community members who invite, welcome and support others — often people who once came to a Language Café themselves.

  • Inviting and welcoming new participants
  • What motivates adults to learn, and what holds them back
  • Working with mixed-age Generational Bridge groups
  • Where to point people next: guidance, employment services and training
  • Training for the role, and recognition for it
Adult learners
Roadmap 3

Adult learners: future skills, step by step

For adults who join a Skills Café and want to build future skills and the local language — including carers who learn from home.

  • Building the CF10 future skills while improving the local language
  • Online Skills Café activities to do from home
  • Collecting evidence of what you can do in a skills portfolio
  • Earning CF10 micro-credentials
  • Next steps into training, employment services or work

Recognition

Learning that counts

What adults learn in a Skills Café goes into one portfolio — the basis for the CF10 micro-credentials.

  • Ten micro-credentials, one for each CF10 future skill, linked to LifeComp, DigComp, GreenComp and EntreComp
  • Designed to the Council Recommendation on micro-credentials, with a certification scheme aligned with ISO 17024
  • To be endorsed by at least one employer association in each partner country

FAQ

Questions about the roadmaps

What is a roadmap?

A step-by-step guide for one group: where to start, which CAFÉ+ tools and activities to use at each stage, and where it leads — to recognised learning and a next step into training or work.

Which roadmap is for me?

Facilitators and Language Café hosts learn to run a Skills Café; Peer Ambassadors learn to welcome and bring in new participants; adult learners build the CF10 future skills step by step.

When will the roadmaps be available?

They will be published here as the CAFÉ+ tools and training are ready. Write to us and we will tell you when they appear.

Are they free?

Yes. Like all CAFÉ+ materials, the roadmaps will be free of charge and licensed under the Creative Commons licence CC BY-SA 4.0.

I look after children or relatives. Can I still take part?

Yes. Skills Cafés are planned with childcare, short sessions, online activities and evening times, and the adult learner roadmap points to activities you can do from home.
